Photos & Recap: March Sketch-Out at the Charleston Maritime Center

On Sunday, ten Urban Sketchers met up at the Charleston Maritime Center for two hours of sketching. Despite being chilly and overcast, we had a great time sketching the dock, boats and the Ravenel Bridge. We welcomed some new faces, and had two visiting sketchers from Columbia, SC join us!

Next Week's Sketch Crawl

Join us on March 20, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., for our monthly sketch-out at the Charleston Maritime Center.

Urban Sketchers Charleston, a chapter of the international Urban Sketchers group, provides and space and community for artists and those who just want to sketch - no experience required! - to meet, talk and sketch at different locations throughout Charleston.

Spend next Sunday with us at the Maritime Center, were we'll have a beautiful waterfront view of the Cooper River.  We will meet up at 2 p.m., settle down to sketch for two hours, and meet back up at 4 p.m. to share our work and take a group photo for our Facebook page.  

Location: The Charleston Maritime Center, 10 Wharfside Street, downtown Charleston, near the intersection of Calhoun and Concord streets.

Our February 21 Sketch-Out at Mercantile & Mash

Urban Sketchers Charleston had a great turnout this past Sunday at Mercantile and Mash in the Cigar Factory. We held this month's sketch-out indoors once again, awaiting warmer weather - but it seems warm weather has already arrived here in Charleston! It was 65° and sunny when we arrived at 2pm, and several sketchers chose to work outside.

February's Sketch-Out Location

Join us on February 21, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., for our monthly sketch-out. 

As it's chilly in Charleston these days, we found another excellent indoor location: Mercantile and Mash in the Cigar Factory, on East Bay Street in Downtown Charleston.  

We'll sketch in the restaurant for two hours, and then gather for a group photo at 4 p.m.

Our January Sketch-Out at Kudu Coffee & Craft Beer

Our January sketch-out was a lot of fun. Avoiding the cold weather, we met inside Kudu Coffee & Craft Beer, a hip Charleston cafe just off of King Street in downtown Charleston. 

There was plenty of material to work from: cappuccinos on old wooden tables, C of C students catching up on their homework, Sunday football fans grabbing a beer between games.

At 4 p.m., we gathered around a table to share our work and have our photo taken.

Photos from Our December 20, 2015 Sketch-Out in Marion Square

Despite the busy holiday season, eight Urban Sketchers made it out this past Sunday for our monthly sketch-out. We met in Marion Square at 2 p.m. The day was clear, sunny and 65° - not bad for an afternoon of drawing around the Square. 

We captured the holiday tourists, Charleston Farmers' Market, the Old Citadel, the Citadel Baptist Church, and the shops along King Street. We met back up at 4 p.m. to share our work, then headed over to Kudu for a hot chocolate (and a beer).
